Porto's Major Disruptive Events Policy
Last Updated: January 05, 2025
Thank you for using Porto!
At Porto, we understand that unforeseen large-scale events can impact your reservations. In such rare circumstances, our Major Disruptive Events Policy (the "Policy") may apply, allowing for cancellations and refunds beyond the standard cancellation terms.
Events Covered
This Policy covers the following events if they occur after booking and prevent or legally prohibit the completion of a reservation:
- Declared Public Health Emergencies and Epidemics: Government-declared epidemics, pandemics, and public health emergencies. This excludes endemic diseases common to certain areas.
- Government Travel Restrictions: Mandatory travel restrictions imposed by governmental agencies, such as evacuation orders. Non-binding advisories are not included.
- Military Actions and Other Hostilities: Acts of war, invasions, terrorism, civil unrest, and similar large-scale disruptions.
- Natural Disasters: Severe weather events and natural disasters that are uncommon and unforeseeable for the location, leading to situations like mandatory evacuations or significant utility outages.
- Large-Scale Utility Outages: Prolonged outages of essential utilities (e.g., electricity, water) affecting the majority in a specific area.
Policy Application
When a covered event occurs:
- Clients can cancel affected reservations and receive a refund or credit, regardless of the standard cancellation policy.
- Venue Partners can cancel without penalties, though their listing will be blocked for the canceled dates.
Porto will assess situations to determine Policy applicability and define the impacted areas and timeframes.
Exclusions
This Policy does not cover:
- Events affecting a Client's ability to travel that do not impact the reservation location.
- Non-binding travel advisories or guidance.
- Transportation disruptions unrelated to a covered event.
- Personal circumstances such as illness or schedule changes.
Additional Information
This Policy is not an insurance product and does not replace travel insurance. It also does not limit your rights under applicable laws.
